The presentation of Somto Asibelua, the elegant and brilliant godmother of the class of 2023-2024, took place on November 11 in front of a packed Salle des Fêtes, where all the students were gathered by house and in their uniforms.
Since 1999, the godmother or godfather, or the spirit of great personalities from the Ecole, has reaffirmed our age-old values to the students of the current graduating class, and thus strengthened the links between the generations.
After Nathalie Duval in 2008, and Jessica Curtis in 2019, Somto Asibelua is the third woman to receive this honorary title from Lionel Isy-Schwart, godfather of the class of 1974-1977.
The daughter of a businessman and a mother deeply involved in the world of education and associations in Lagos and France, Somto studied at the Lycée Français in the Nigerian capital, before discovering the École des Roches and joining La Prairie to take a bilingual international baccalaureate in 2018.
He was instrumental in organizing a trip to his home country for the school's directors, led by Stéphane Royo, to introduce the school to local business leaders, journalists and politicians.
" I loved the École des Roches for the wonderful people I met there, and for the sense of responsibility, autonomy and taste for tolerance that we have always developed there," confided Somto, who studied for a bachelor's degree in law and international relations in London.
Attached is Somto's speech on the day of her appointment as godmother.
