On Sunday October 2, Michel Debus (Pins 1936 - 1939), a leading figure in Alsace's brewing world, passed away peacefully at his home in Schiltigheim. Michel Debus, a leading figure in Alsace brewing, has passed away.

The son of a brewer, Michel Debus was born in Strasbourg on December 12, 1926. To become a brewing engineer, he studied in Nancy, Munich and Zurich. He was one of the last qualified brewmasters in France.

In 1951, he was hired by the Schilik brewery Pêcheur (Fischer). He went on to become CEO of both Fischer and Adelshoffen, before leaving Fischer following the brewery's takeover by Heineken in 1996.

Michel Debus was the inventor and promoter of flavored beers.

At the age of 81, he joined the team at Kohler-Rehm, a craft brewery. On the death of his partner Gilles Le Quellec, he took over the reins of the company.

In 2016, the Storig brewery moved to the Adelshoffen eco-district. A widower, Michel Debus had the misfortune to outlive his four children. He is survived by six grandchildren, including César (Sablons: 2003 - 2007).

The Comité sends its condolences to his grandchildren.

His funeral will take place on Friday, October 7, 2022, at 2 p.m., in the Église de la Sainte Famille in Schiltigheim (67).
