Born in 1941 and brought up on the cult of quality wine, I headed the export and advertising department of the fourth-generation Piat Père et Fils family business, founded in 1849 in Mâcon.

After the company had been taken over by a money-hungry English group that treated the ancestral qualities of the family and the trade with contempt, I left these makers of easy money and promotion by downgrading the products and destroying over 120 years of stubborn work to improve and ennoble them.
