Eloquence Cup 2024
At 6 p.m., all the students in uniform, flags flying, came out of Les Pins, Le Vallon, La Prairie, Le Coteau and Les Sablons, to welcome the alumni who had come by coach from Paris, attend the new eloquence competition and share a dinner.
A more classically-organized cup, in the spirit of those that once brought together high-spoken beaux parleurs, orators with chastened vocabularies, or poets with vanished syntax.
This year, five non-native French-speaking students, led by Marie Odile Grinevald, a well-known figure on the Parisian stage and drama teacher at the school, competed against each other with their own texts, defending their favorite themes and historical authors with ease of gesture and language.
Marie Odile was the real star of the evening, with a panel of alumni who answered the call without hesitation and never took their eyes off the stage.
This moment, which was a first, was immortalized by the eye of Lionel Isy-Schwartz (Pins 74-77).
This new eloquence cup was the success it deserved to be. Thanks to the efforts of all concerned, to a rediscovered tradition, and because our school is never short of excellence, whether in its infancy or confirmed.
The 2025 Eloquence Cup is already on everyone's lips.
