In collaboration with the Musée Munch in Oslo, the Musée d'Orsay is devoting an exhibition to the famous Norwegian painter Edvard Munch.gian painter Edvard Munch (1863-1944), whose work - sixty years in the making - is both vast and complex, yet remains partly unknown.

It's a fact that an artist can be world-famous and yet paradoxically be the author of a little-known body of work. The Norwegian painter suffers from the rare malady of having been reduced to a single image: The Scream.

To correct this error and definitively rehabilitate the figure of Munch in the history of art, the Musée d'Orsay is devoting a vast retrospective to him, featuring over 150 masterpieces, including some sixty paintings and a major group of drawings. The exhibition embraces the painter's entire career, spanning more than 60 years of creation, and reveals a fundamentally coherent, even obsessive, body of work that is constantly renewed.
